The WmK Mobile was part of a larger art project called "Kunstprojekte Riem" which aimed to accompany a large scale city delevopement outside Munich where new homes for about 16,000 people were built on the former airplane field in RIEM.
The WmK Mobil was a mobile space which appeared in the streets of the new city and offered to the new settlers free interior design consultency using artistic methods and ideas to create a brainstorm about design problems on site.
The contact to the people on site was rather informal, passersby were curious about the Mobil, asked questions and then took the offer to invite the artists into their homes to show them their design problems.
The Project occurred between May and June 2001 and was published at the SpringerWienNewYork puplishing company , ISBN number 3-211-20346-X.
The director of art projects riem was Dr.Claudia Buettner.
As a consequence of the success of the WmK project a follow-up project happened called "Anprobe Feuerwache 10". The public works team worked with the local firemen and the buildings architect to implement an improvement in the building´s function as a fire station, creating a new facade, the rest rooms, and informal seating for the communal area.
